The Hidalgo County GOP proudly announces that it has selected a candidate to be placed on the ballot in the special election in November.
Mr. Albert (Al) Perez has 32 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, 14 of those years being at the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department. The task that brought him the most satisfaction was training police officers from the ground up. Today he sees many of those former young cadets in positions of leadership in various law enforcement agencies.
As sheriff, Mr. Perez pledges to restore confidence in the department partly by implementing a new administration and by revamping the Internal Affairs Division. He will reassess the department and redirect resources where they are most needed.
Mr. Perez and his wife, Diorica, have been married 20 years and have seven children. They are members of Church of Christ in Mission. Mr. Perez enjoys hunting and fishing and has done volunteer work with Mujeres Unides.
At least night’s Executive Committee meeting the membership voted to place the name of Al Perez on the November ballot for Hidalgo County Sheriff as the Republican nominee. More details will follow in the next few days and a press release will be issued. Congratulations to Mr. Perez.
An emergency meeting will be held on Monday, August 18 at 7:00 PM. The meeting is at our new Headquarters located in the Interplex Plaza. The address is 1109 W. Nolana, Suite 306, McAllen 78504. The plaza is located on the south side of Nolana and a block west of 10th Street. The entrance is clearly marked and we are in a corner suite in the west building.
This will be a short meeting, but an extremely important one. There are only 2 items on the agenda and no other business can be conducted, as per our bylaws. Your attendance will give you an opportunity to see the building that we’ll be using until the November election is over.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 6:30 P.M. at 5804 N. 23rd Street, McAllen, Texas 78504. All Executive Committee members are expected to attend and all other interested persons are welcome.
